Fire crews have been called to a grass fire at the Loop Line cycle path near Montgomery Road in Aintree. Crews were on scene at 8.20pm, with two fire engines in attendance. Crews arrived to find an area of grassland 40 x 50 metres involved in fire and have begun to fight the fire with hose reel jets.
A significant amount of smoke is being generated by the fire, residents should keep doors and windows closed. If you have an existing health condition, keep medicines nearby and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111 for advice.
Please avoid the area.

The fire has now been extinguished. Fire crews are damping down the area and checking for hot spots.
