Two teams of two firefighters in BA have been committed, one team with one hose reel jet to the roof space of the affected premises that is believed to be the origin of the fire, and another team deployed to the neighbouring property where the fire has spread.

External firefighting activities have now ceased. The Fire Service drone has been requested to check temperatures of the roof space.

UPDATE 09.15 – Wednesday 6th November

At 00.47 on the morning of Wednesday 6th November, crews pitched a nine metre ladder to the rear of the property and a firefighter wearing a rag harness removed roof tiles to check temperatures of the roof space.

Crews continued to remove roof tiles to the front and rear of the property using safe systems of work to monitor temperatures into the early hours and used one high pressure hose reel to damp down roof timbers.

It was determined that accidental ignition due to a lit firework coming into contact with combustible materials in the garden was the cause of the fire, following a full investigation.

Crews completed an external handover before leaving the scene at 02.34.
