House Fire, Holt Road, Tranmere

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at an incident on Holt Road, Tranmere.

Crews were alerted at 07.42 with a fire engine from Birkenhead first on scene at 07.47. At the height of the incident there was four fire engines and the aerial appliance in attendance.

This is a traditional two storey brick built mid terrace property involved in an explosion. Neighbours have stated to Fire Service personnel that all persons were out of the property prior to Fire Service arrival. Fire fighting commenced with one hose reel jet being utilised. A building inspector has been requested due to the possible unsafe structures at either side of the affected property, Cadent have also been requested.

Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service are at scene.

One main jet and one hose reel jet is in use to fire fight externally. A cordon has been set up and is being managed by Police.

The MFRS Search and Rescue Team (SRT) have been requested for structural monitoring equipment.

Properties at either side of the affected premises have been evacuated and gas and electricity has been isolated.

Two casualties are in the care of NWAS Paramedics and have been conveyed to hospital.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus utilised one hose reel jet to tackle the affected property which was still involved in fire internally.

All properties along the road where the affected property is situated have now been evacuated with gas and electrics isolated.

NWAS are remaining at scene as a precautionary measure. Wirral Council are also in attendance.

 

UPDATE 09.26

Crews continue to fight the fire at the affected property, located to a first floor bedroom. Two firefighters in BA were committed and the fire has now been extinguished. Fire fighting activities have now ceased.

The structural engineer is now in attendance and multi agency meetings are taking place at regular intervals.

 

UPDATE 09.53

SRT continue to monitor the structure of the property – this is ongoing, with the structural engineer liaising with search and rescue colleagues to determine the structural integrity of the building and next steps, should any further action be required.

Wirral Council are arranging temporary accommodation for residents of evacuated properties.

 

UPDATE 10.54

Following a further multi agency meeting, no changes since the last meeting, multi agencies continue to monitor the situation at scene.

Incident has been scaled down to two fire engines. Multi agency colleagues continue to monitor the situation at scene.

UPDATE 14.20

Fire crews have continued to hotspot the affected area at the property the incident originated. This has now concluded and fire fighting activities have ceased.

The local authority are in attendance to remove the debris pile. An investigation is underway, however, it could take some time to establish cause.
