Industrial Building Fire, Liverpool L3

Fire crews have been called to a fire in an industrial building on Tower St., Liverpool L3 this evening. Crews were alerted at 8.08pm and on scene at 8.14pm, with four fire engines and an aerial appliance in attendance.

Crews arrived to find a two storey brick building involved in fire and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are fighting the fire with main hose reel jets.

The incident has been divided into sectors. Please avoid the area. Residents and businesses nearby should close windows and doors. Those with existing medical conditions should keep treatments nearby and if any ill effects are experienced, dial NHS 111 for advice.

The incident is ongoing.

UPDATE 9.00PM

Merseyside Police are in attendance and managing a cordon. The main body of fire has been extinguished. Fire crews are checking for hotspots and an electric fan is in use to clear smoke from the building.

UPDATE 10.15AM – Tuesday 23rd April

Breathing apparatus was withdrawn and the electrics to the building were isolated.

Crews continued to mechanically ventilate the property and monitor for any hotspots using thermal imaging cameras.

The incident was significantly scaled down shortly after and an external handover completed.

Crews left the scene at 00.19 on the morning of Tuesday 23rd April.
