Location: Bold Street, Liverpool
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) are in attendance at an incident on Bold Street, Liverpool City Centre, on the evening of Sunday 8th June.
Crews were alerted at 19.56 and on scene at 20.03 with four fire engines attending at the height of the incident.
On arrival this was smoke issuing from the ventilation system of a restaurant situated to the ground floor of a three-storey building.
Following further inspection, a small fire in the restaurant kitchen that had affected the ventilation system of the premises on Bold Street was confirmed, with smoke from the extractor having travelled through the windows of the flats above.
Four firefighters in breathing apparatus (BA) were committed, with two firefighters within the restaurant to locate and extinguish the fire, and two firefighters entering the flats above to evacuate residents.
Crews located the fire and established an action plan to extinguish the blaze, cutting away at the ventilation system to check for fire spread. Fire Service personnel have also evacuated residents from the flats above.
Merseyside Police are in attendance to manage the cordon.
At 21.19, the incident was scaled down to one fire engine as a result of progress made at scene by crews. Remaining fire crew carried out precautionary checks for hotspots and continue to monitor temperatures.
MFRS personnel are liaising with responsible person of the flats, with occupants allowed to return to their dwellings.
Crews continued to monitor temperatures before leaving the scene at 22.32.
