One person released from car, Croxteth

Firefighters attended a road traffic collision on the East Lancashire Road in Croxteth on Tuesday 3rd March.

Crews were alerted at 11.31am and on scene at 11.35am. Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue appliance.

On arrival crews found two vehicles - a HGV and a car - had been in collision close to the junction with Stonebridge Lane.

The driver of the HGV was out of the vehicle when the crews arrived but one person was medically trapped in the car.

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to carry out a full roof removal on the vehicle, allowing the casualty to be placed on a spinal board and removed from the vehicle.

The person was then handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital for further assessment.

Crews left the scene at 12.18pm.
