One person released from vehicle, East Lancashire Road

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service attended a road traffic collision on the East Lancashire Road, St Helens, on Friday 29th October.

Crews were alerted at 11.03am and on scene at 11.10am. Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue appliance.

On arrival crews found a car and a wagon had been involved in a collision on the eastbound side of the carriageway, close to its junction with Slag Lane.

Crews carried out a full roof removal of the car to release one person who was trapped inside. They were then handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital.

The driver of the wagon was assessed at the scene but did not require any further medical treatment.

Merseyside Police were also in attendance and assisted with road closures.

Fire crews left the scene at 12.04pm.
