Location: Pier Head, Liverpool
Firefighters were called to the River Mersey on Sunday 26th January after reports a person was stuck in the mud close to the Museum of Liverpool.
Crews were alerted at 8.07pm and on scene at 8.16pm. Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue appliance.
Wirral Coastguard, the RNLI, North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Police also attended.
Fire crews set up a lowering system to allow them to access the casualty, with one member of the search and rescue team lowered to the casualty's location.
Two lifeboat crew were committed onto the mud to reassure the casualty whilst the rescue took place.
The casualty was then placed in a body harness and raised to the quayside where paramedics were waiting ready to assess them. They were then taken to hospital for further assessment.
Fire crews left the scene at 9.30pm.
