Recycling centre fire, Bidston

Location: Wallasey Bridge Road, Bidston

Firefighters are in attendance at an incident at a recycling centre in Wallasey Bridge Road, Bidston.

Crews were alerted at 5.55pm and on scene at 6.02pm.

There are currently 10 fire engines and two aerial appliances at the scene.

On arrival crews, found part of a large warehouse was well alight.

Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, are tackling the fire, which has been split into sectors for firefighting purposes.

This is a largely industrial area, but anyone living in the vicinity should close their doors and windows as a precaution. The public are urged to avoid the area if possible.

The fire is now largely out. Some crews remain on the scene damping down using a main jet in two sectors.
