Fire Crews have been called to a fire at a restaurant on London Road, Liverpool City centre which has affected flats in a building to the rear.
Six fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance. Crews were alerted at 7.35pm and on scene at 7.37pm.
Crews arrived to find a kitchen fire at the rear of a restaurant on the ground floor of a four storey building.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the kitchen area and began to fight the fire rapidly using hose reel jets and extinguishers to prevent it from escalating.
The fire is affecting flats in a five-storey block to the rear of the restaurant in Riding Street. An evacuation of this building has taken place and a roll call is taking place with four teams of two firefighters firefighting and searching the building. Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service are in attendance with Police assisting with the evacuation of the building.
The main body of fire has now been significantly supressed. All floors are being systematically searched to ensure all persons are accounted for.
One person is being treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service for minor injuries.
Fire crews remain at the scene to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
