Location: Kirkstone Avenue, St Helens
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident on Carr Mill Road, Kirkstone Avenue, St Helens, on the morning of Thursday 12th June.
Crews were alerted at 10.13 and on scene at 10.20 with two fire engines and the search and rescue team attending.
On arrival this was a two vehicle road traffic collision (RTC), with both vehicles on all four wheels.
The driver of vehicle one was conscious and breathing, however unable to leave the vehicle unaided. MFRS crews stabilised the car, while North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) Paramedics assessed the casualty. One passenger with two dogs from vehicle one was out of the vehicle prior to Fire Service arrival, with the dogs taken to the vets to be assessed as a precaution.
Two occupants of vehicle two were out of the car prior to Fire Service attendance and were transported to hospital for precautionary checks.
An action plan to remove the casualty from vehicle one was established in consultation with NWAS colleagues. Crews removed the vehicle’s roof to enable safe removal of the casualty into the care of NWAS, before being conveyed to hospital for further treatment.
