RTC, Liverpool Road, Haydock

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident on Liverpool Road, Haydock, on the evening of Monday 13 October.

Crews were alerted at 21.44 and on scene at 21.51 with two fire engines and the search and rescue team attending.

This was a two-vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) with both cars on all four wheels and all casualties conscious and breathing.

Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) also attended, with road closures in place in both directions.

One person in vehicle one was unable to leave the vehicle and were assessed by NWAS Paramedics. Multi-agency meetings took place to establish a plan to safely remove the casualty.

Fire Service personnel removed the roof of the vehicle, before conveying the casualty into the care of Ambulance staff.

An additional three people were out of the vehicle prior to Fire Service attendance and received treatment at scene, before all casualties were transported to hospital.

Vehicle two comprised of two casualties, who were able to leave their vehicle unaided, and were then assessed at scene by Paramedics before being taken to hospital for precautionary checks. 

Fire Crews made up their equipment and left the scene at 23.03 following a hot debrief.
