Scrap fire, Kirkdale

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) is currently in attendance at an incident on Regent Road, Kirkdale, on the evening of Wednesday 9 September.

Crews were alerted at 8.29pm and arrived on scene at 8.34pm, with six fire engines and one aerial appliance attending.

On arrival this is fire involving a pile of scrap metal measuring approximately 30m x 40m.

Firefighters are using two main branches and one ground monitor.

Fire Service personnel are liaising with on site staff an utilising on site machinery to separate the pile of scrap affected to prevent escalation.

MFRS crews are continuing to make good progress, with an on site crane in use to move materials from the affected scrap pile. A further hose reel jet is being used to damp down affected materials.
