Shop fire, St Helens

Location: Cambridge Road, St Helens

Firefighters were called to Cambridge Road, St Helens, on Sunday 4th July.

Crews were alerted at 6.41am and on scene at 6.46am. Five fire engines attended.

On arrival crews found smoke issuing from the rear of a two storey property consisting of a shop and flat above.

Firefighters used an angle grinder to gain access to the property via the rear roller shutters and six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property.

Crews used high pressure hose reel jets to tackle a fire in the ground floor kitchen.

The fire had been extinguished by 7.18am.

Crews then carried out a search of neighbouring properties for signs of fire spread.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

It is believed the fire started accidentally due to an electrical fault.

Fire crews left the scene at 10.40am.
