Fire crews were called to a school on Utting Avenue East this morning after a smell of gas was reported. Crews were alerted at 10.34am and on scene at 10.44am, with two fire engines in attendance. The premises was evacuated and intakes of gas into the school were isolated. Crews investigated the area where the smell of gas was originally reported using specialist equipment and found no sign of gas. While awaiting engineers from the Utilities company, crews continued to check gas levels throughout the building and found normal levels. A church nearby was also checked and found to have normal levels. When the gas engineer arrived they also checked the building and found normal levels. Fire crews left the scene at 11.52am.
