Vehicle fire, St Helens Linkway, St Helens

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) attended an incident on St Helens Linkway, St Helens, on the evening of Thursday 16th October.

Crews were alerted at 16.43 and on scene at 16.48 with two fire engines attending.

On arrival, this was one car involved in fire in the middle lane of the southbound carriageway.

One firefighter wearing breathing apparatus (BA) under general observations used one high pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Merseyside Police also attended the scene and closed the southbound carriageway from the roundabout.

Fire crews continued to monitor temperatures. Two occupants of the vehicle were conscious and breathing with no injuries reported.

Firefighters handed the scene over to Merseyside Police to arrange recovery, with the left hand lane reopened, before leaving at 09.20.
