Connor, Occupational Health Apprentice

Prior to joining MFRS, Connor attended sixth form and worked in a garage. He is now an apprentice within Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service's Occupational Health department.

Working for MFRS is great - I have built up my communications skills, confidence in speaking on the phone and I have learned how the Occupational Health department work as a team. I've also been able to work closely with other staff members and departments.

I applied for an apprenticeship as I will not only be working, but I will learn a new course and gain a qualification. This is as well as wanting to work for MFRS as a career, and the apprenticeship will hopefully open up opportunities to work within different departments and have a future career in MFRS.

I think some people think that because I'm an apprentice, I won't get much work or I will be given all of the easy tasks, but that's not the case. I have taken on some big roles that help the team run smoothly.
