Building fire, Church Street, St Helens

Location: Church Street, St Helens

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service is currently in attendance at a building fire on Church Street, St. Helens.

Crews were alerted at 12.49pm on Tuesday 19th October and on scene at 12.54pm. Four fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance.

The fire has been located on the ground floor of a three storey disused building approx. 30m x 30m.

Two teams of two firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus, both using thermal imaging cameras and hose reel jets to assist with firefighting activities.

Merseyside Police are also in attendance assisting with traffic management.

This is an ongoing incident, more to follow.

First floor incident has been sectorised. Sector 1 with two teams of two BA with one hose reel jet and one main branch. External firefighting also taking place.

Firefighting activities and ventilation continues with three groups of two firefighters in breathing apparatus with three hose reel jets.

Fire has now been extinguished. This incident currently consists of one team of two BA wearers hotspotting with one hose reel jet. Incident will be scaled down to three fire engines.

After scaling down the incident, crews left the scene at 17.20.
