Fire crews are in attendance at a fire on Lime Street, Liverpool.

Crews were alerted at 9.16pm and on scene at 9.20pm. Four fire engines and an aerial appliance attended.

Crews arrived to find a five storey derelict building, approximately 30 by 20 metres with smoke coming from the third and fourth floor.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and began fighting the fire using a hose reel jet.

The fire has been extinguished and crews are checking for fire spread and ventilating the area to clear any remaining smoke.

The incident is currently being scaled down and two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are checking for fire spread with one hose reel jet.

Merseyside Police are in attendance managing a road cordon, please avoid the area.
