Flooding in Windle

Date:

Location: Rainford

Fire crews were alerted to a flooding incident at a property in Malt House Court, Windle, at 5.51am.

Crews were on scene at 5.59am, with two fire engines with AWG pumps attending.

On arrival, crews found water from a nearby cemetery causing flooding to properties due to heavy rainfall.

Pumps were used to clear water from a number of properties at Malt House Court.

A multi-agency meeting was held with MFRS, St Helens Council's emergency response team, a contractor and United Utilities where an action plan was formulated.

Sandbags and environmental protection equipment were used to help prevent further flooding and the incident was then sectorised with firefighters using different types of pumps to keep water down.

A temporary traffic light system has been set up on Rainford Road to manage traffic in the area.

Crews are still on scene.

UPDATE at 8.40pm

We still have some firefighters on scene and efforts to pump and divert flood water continue.

Rainford Road has now been closed between Bleak Hill Road and Kiln Lane.

This incident is ongoing.
