Fire Crews have been called to a house fire in Delamore Street, Kirkdale, this morning.

Crews were alerted at 11.35am and on scene at 11.43am.

Four fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance.

Crews arrived to find a two-storey mid terrace with both ground and first floor well involved in fire. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have entered the property to suppress the fire and search for occupants. A further two firefighters have entered the property next door to check for fire spread in the roof space.

The incident is ongoing, please avoid the area.

INCIDENT UPDATE 1.30PM

After 6 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have previously entered the property where the main seat of fire is located and properties either side to prevent fire spread, roof tiles are being removed via the aerial appliance to expose and attack the fire in the roof space. All persons are accounted for in the property and adjoining properties. The use of breathing apparatus has now temporarily ceased as roof tiles continue to be removed to gain access.

Residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed and if you suffer from a pre-existing medical condition, keep medicines close. If any ill effects are experienced, please dial NHS 111 for advice.

Please avoid the area if possible.

INCIDENT UPDATE 5.00PM

Firefighters have continued to remove roof tiles, accessing the roof with Rope Access Gear. The Service drone was deployed to gain greater situational awareness from an airborne vantage point overhead. After a multi-agency meeting between MFRS, Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), NWAS were released from the incident and Police remained to assist with keeping cordons in place. Crews have continued to remove tiles, checking for hotspots and utilities companies attended to isolate electrics and gas. The incident has been scaled down and now one fire engine and the aerial appliance are in attendance. The use of the drone has ended and the firefighters have been using thermal imaging cameras to check for fire spread in the original and neighbouring properties. There is no sign of any fire spread or hot spots. Remaining crews are expected to leave shortly.
