House Fire, Knowsley Road Bootle

Fire crews have been called to a serious house fire in Knowsley Road, Bootle this evening. Crews were alerted at 8.26PM and on scene at 8.30PM.

8 fire engines and an aerial appliance are in attendance.

Crews arrived to find a 2 storey terraced house with the first floor and roof space well alight. 6 Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus began to fight the fire with 2 hose reel jets and a main branch hose.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus increased by two wearers to 8 in total and continued to fight the fire using 3 high pressure hose reels and one main branch hose.

2 persons were out of the house on arrival and are being treated by North West Ambulance Service. The fire is also affecting properties on either side of the property where the main fire was situated.

The incident is ongoing. Please avoid the area. Residents nearby should keep doors and windows closed. If you have an existing medical condition keep medicines nearby and if any ill effects are experienced dial NHS 111.

UPDATE 9.40PM

All persons are now accounted for. The Aerial appliance is now being used to remove roof tiles to access the fire in the roof space. Breathing apparatus is no longer in use and firefighters are checking for fire spread.
