Rescue from River Mersey

Location: Woodside Ferry Terminal, River Mersey

The Marine Rescue Unit (MRU) was called out to rescue a person from the River Mersey at Woodside Ferry Terminal today. The Search and Rescue team were also in attendance.

The Marine Fire One rescue boat was mobilised at 1513 and the casualty was recovered to the boat at 1522. The casualty was conscious and breathing and was taken to the MRU station at the Pier Head, Liverpool, where the Search and Rescue Team assisted with removal of the casualty to land. The casualty was treated for cold water immersion and handed over to NWAS paramedics.

The crew mobilised, kitted up, launched Marine Fire One and retrieved the casualty in just 9 minutes.
