Location: M62
Three fire engines attended the scene at 7.21am of a crane well alight on the hard shoulder between J7 and J6 on the M62 Westbound carriageway. All lanes of M62 westbound were closed.
Two high pressure hose reels were in use by fire fighters, and fire extinguished. Crews then set up a poly boom to stem and contain large fuel and oil leakage.
Firefighters then liaised with Highways England - lane 3 has opened to clear backlog of traffic from J7-6 to confirm once this volume of traffic has moved the M62 will remain closed from J7. Please check with Highways England for updates.
Crews left the scene at 8.59am.
