Firefighters at MFRA are approximately 91% Male and 9% Female. The percentage of women has risen by 3.4% since 2016, while approximately 5.2% our firefighters are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) which is a 1.5% increase since 2016. To enable MFRS to reflect the diverse communities we serve we are running regular inclusive recruitment campaigns which includes:
- Building long term relationships with key stakeholders
- Have a go days
- Facilitating workshops aimed at targeted groups
- Use of existing internal stakeholders and networks
- Reviewing recruitment and selection materials and tools
- Using social media platforms
- Collaborating with other Fire and Rescue Services in the North West and Emergency Services on Merseyside
- Attending School/College/University careers events
